Herbie's Tamarind Block Indian is a 95g block of tamarind pulp.
Tamarind is the dark, acidic pulp from the pods of the tamarind tree, and one of the most popular souring agents in Indian and Asian cooking. It adds tang and a fruity background flavour to curries, sour soups and sauces. Produce of India, packed in Australia.
To make tamarind water, soak a walnut-sized piece in 2 tablespoons of hot water for 10 to 15 minutes, then strain off the liquid and discard the seeds and pulp.
