Vytautas is one of Lithuania's best-known mineral waters, with a story that goes back to Birštonas in 1924. It's drawn from a protected borehole about 125 metres deep in the Nemunas Loops region and bottled sparkling in glass.
This is a big, salty mineral water rather than a neutral one. Each litre carries around 7,300mg of dissolved minerals, including roughly 1,730mg sodium, 550mg calcium and 240mg magnesium, which is where its distinctive savoury taste comes from. If you're keeping an eye on sodium, it's worth knowing it's naturally high.
The producer suggests serving it at 10 to 12°C. The 750ml bottle is the one to bring out with a meal.
