Ginger Turmeric Shot

Start your day with "jamu" – a traditional Indonesian herbal tonic made with fresh turmeric and ginger. It's a powerhouse of antioxidants, vitamin C, and anti-inflammatory benefits.

Ingredients

  • 2 oranges, peeled
  • 1/2 cup fresh ginger
  • 1/2 cup piece fresh turmeric
  • 1 lemon, peeled
  • 1 cups coconut water
  • honey or maple syrup
  • A pinch of black pepper (enhances turmeric absorption)

Steps

  1. Wash ginger and turmeric thoroughly (our favourite is the baking soda soak)
  2. Roughly chop the ginger and turmeric.
  3. Add all ingredients to a blender. Blend until smooth.
  4.  Use a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth for a smoother texture.
  5.  Serve chilled or warmed up with hot water
  6. Store in an airtight bottle in the fridge for up to 3 days. OR freeze in an ice cube tray for easy daily shots
  7. Take 1-2 shots per day for an immunity boost

Notes

  • Alternatively, you can use a juicer
  • Save the peels of the orange and lemon for future use (like for zest or DIY cleaner)
  • Be mindful that turmeric can stain!
