Start your day with "jamu" – a traditional Indonesian herbal tonic made with fresh turmeric and ginger. It's a powerhouse of antioxidants, vitamin C, and anti-inflammatory benefits.
Ingredients
- 2 oranges, peeled
- 1/2 cup fresh ginger
- 1/2 cup piece fresh turmeric
- 1 lemon, peeled
- 1 cups coconut water
- honey or maple syrup
- A pinch of black pepper (enhances turmeric absorption)
Steps
- Wash ginger and turmeric thoroughly (our favourite is the baking soda soak)
- Roughly chop the ginger and turmeric.
- Add all ingredients to a blender. Blend until smooth.
- Use a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth for a smoother texture.
- Serve chilled or warmed up with hot water
- Store in an airtight bottle in the fridge for up to 3 days. OR freeze in an ice cube tray for easy daily shots
- Take 1-2 shots per day for an immunity boost
Notes
- Alternatively, you can use a juicer
- Save the peels of the orange and lemon for future use (like for zest or DIY cleaner)
- Be mindful that turmeric can stain!
